This gallery is the product of multiple visits to the 21 California missions. The missions are all historic mounuments, testament to the first permanent European settlement in California. I have been photographing the missions since I moved to California in 1983.
The Niger gallery dates from 1974 when I worked for the Red Cross as a relief worker in West Africa.
The website opens with the Inaugural gallery. It is a small section of the type of work I have done over roughly 50 years of taking pictures. I shot the earliest photo in this gallery on a rocky Snæfellsnes beach in 1972 whereas the latest images are recent photographs from Iceland and California. I shot film only until 2008, using various types of Kodak film exclusively. Since then I have primarily used Nikon digital cameras and lenses taking advantage of the solid lineup of manual and autofocus products I have collected through time.
